The Winter Newsletter

The flute - Mozart once called it 'Magic' and went on to write an entire opera on its enchanting qualities. But long before the classical era of Wolfgang Amadeus - perhaps as far back as the dawn of civilization - the evolution of the flute set out on a remarkable journey which parallels the development of music itself.

The Flute Symphony of Lexington Welcomes You!

MISSION STATEMENT: To maintain a multigenerational flute ensemble in a friendly and supportive environment that provides the highest quality of musical performance throughout the Lexington community.

The Composition Crusade Program has been made possible through a generous grant from LexArts. All LexArts programs and services are supported in part by the Kentucky ArtsCouncil, a state agency in the commerce cabinet and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. The program will feature a series of workshops for flutists, working alone or in groups, to compose their own works, rehearse them with FSL, and ultimately present a World Premiere performance. In addition, composer Sonny Burnette will be writing a new flute choir piece specifically for The Flute Symphony of Lexington. Watch this space for information on how to get involved!
